Inverness v Rangers Betting: Ally McCoists odds on to go top of SPL

Rangers travel to the Scottish highlands to take on Inverness in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday – live on Sky Sports. The home side are currently bottom of the table after a bad start to the season while Rangers haven’t had a great start themselves under new manager Ally McCoist.

A draw with Hearts on the opening day of the season had some of the Ibrox faithful booing at the performance. A win over St. Johnstone steadied the Rangers ship but the pressure is still on McCoist as he needs to get the team to perform. The manager was a legend as a player at Ibrox but the fans are already angered after the team were dumped out of the Champions League by the Malmo in the qualifying rounds.

McCoist badly needs this win as the club needs to stay in the title race with Celtic even at this early stage. What is worrying for Rangers, however, is that their injury list seems to be growing and more and more fringe and youth players have to be called into the squad.

Inverness have their own problems and have just taken one point from a possible nine so far. Last week, even though they were very poor, they were able to grab a draw against Dunfermline. Manager Terry Butcher said his side were “very lucky” to get a point because he believed Dunfermline should have had all three.

Inverness now look like prime candidates for the drop this season as it doesn’t look as if they will put up much of a fight against most in the league.

In the betting for Saturday’s game with Unibet, Rangers are firm favourites at 2/5, with a draw at 10/3 and an Inverness win at a massive 13/2.

Hibernian came to Caledonian Park just two weeks ago and got the victory so Rangers should really have no trouble. Ally McCoist’s players will know that a win will put them top of the SPL for at least a few hours.

The Inverness defence has also been shocking in their games so far, letting in seven goals in three games. Rangers should put a few past them again on Saturday and taking over 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Unibet is definitely worth a punt.
