Euro 2012 Betting Preview: Spain and Germany Favourites

With the lights going out in South Africa following a fantastic World Cup, they are now going on slowly but surely over Europe as Euro 2012 rears its head and prepares itself to take centre stage in terms on International football. There is no prizes for guessing who have been made favourites for the tournament, that honour of course goes to newly crowned World Champions and defending Euro Champions, Spain, who are 4/1 with Bet365.

The first matches in the Group stages get underway in September and will go on until November 2011, with the tournament finals taking place in 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine. Spain in fact have been drawn as the top seeds in Group I, where amongst their opponents are Scotland, who have yet again found themselves badly drawn. Nonetheless Scotland who play their first match against Liechtenstein on September 7th are quoted at around 10/3 to qualify and 1/5 odds on not to.

Euro 2012 Odds Comparison.

England and Wales have both been drawn in Group G, which looks like a very tricky Group to qualify from, particularly as they also contain highly respected teams like Bulgaria and Switzerland. After their awful time of it in South Africa, England will be extremely nervous about their opening match on September 3rd against Bulgaria at Wembley, which they follow a four days later with a very tough away match against Switzerland. Wales start against Montenegro, the Group outsiders, but we think a team that could do well on home soil. England are 2/5 odds on favourites to win the Group, while Wales look a good bet to us at 12/1 with Bet365.com to qualify.

Germany, the European Under 21 Champions, and who played so well to reach the World Cup Semi Finals, should be even stronger by the time 2012 comes along. This is why bet 365 has made them joint favourites with Spain at 4/1 to win the tournament, while the same Bookmakers go 15/2 for World Cup Runners Up, Holland.
