Ronaldo & Suarez Head Top Goalscorer Betting
Cristiano Ronaldo's impressive record in the Champions League continued last season as the Portuguese hotshot inspired Real Madrid's success in the competition, and he amassed a stunning total of 16 goals in the event to top the charts for the fourth year running, and some might say that the 4/1 available with bet365 for Ronaldo to head the goalscoring table once again is decent value.
93 Champions League goals in 127 appearances has propelled him to the top of the all-time list and having scored 55 goals in the last four Champions League years then he has to set the standard, but surprisingly he is not outright favourite for the crown as Barcelona's Luis Suarez is also a 4/1 shot with Coral, as he aims to win the accolade for the first time in his career.
Part of Barcelona's star attacking trio which sees Suarez team up with Lionel Messi and Neymar, the former Liverpool frontman has been Barcelona's star performer in the last 18 months, and while the Spanish heavweights may find it tough in the group stages against Manchester City they should ease past Celtic and Borussia Monchengladbach and he is sure to sparkle once again, but is a tad skinny and the aforementioned Ronaldo certainly makes more appeal here.
Neymar The Value Play, As Lewandoski And Mesi Are Sure To Star
Lionel Messi is sure to have a key role in this market and the man who won the top goalscorer gong in four consecutive seasons between 2009 and 2012 is 5/1 with Betway. He tied for the title in 2015 as he racked up ten goals, but while he is not a man to be ignored he may just struggle to land the prize again, as he is often battling for the ball when Barcelona gain penalties, so he may miss out on a couple of spot kicks, which could hinder his chances.
Robert Lewandoski will be hoping to inspire Bayern Munich to their first win in the Champions League since 2013 and the Polish frontman is an eye-catching 9/1 with bet365 to win the golden boot, and while the German side face last year's runner-up Atletico Madrid in their group, Lewandoski could score a hatful against PSV Eindhoven and FC Rostov.
However, the stand-out bet in the win market is Neymar, who tied for the 2015 golden boot and is the final cog in the Barcelona triumvirate, and while messrs Messi and Suarez are short single-figured odds the Brazilian superstar is a very tempting 25/1 with Coral, and with that firm paying on four places in the each-way market then he is sure to be up there challenging and can at least sneak a place.
Dybala And Griezmann Lively Outsiders, As Bale And Muller Aim To Challenge
With so much attacking brilliance on show in the Champions League then punters could enjoy some excellent value about proven top-class talents and Euro 2016 top scorer Antoine Griezmann will be one name aiming to shine for Atletico Madrid, and the Frenchman is another etched in at 25/1 with Coral and is worth a second look.
Gareth Bale (25/1) and Thomas Muller (20/1) are another couple of names to instantly jump off the list, but while they may get their fair share of goals they are unlikely to be hitting the top of the charts, so they can be avoided and Juventus' Paulo Dybala is an interesting alternative at 40/1 with bet365.
Our Champions League preview has already highlighted the chances of Juventus, and while Gonzalo Higuain (16/1) will spearhead their attack it's Dybala that could flourish on the biggest stage of all, and he is another worth a speculative each-way flutter on, with Leicester City fans likely to have a flying dart on Jamie Vardy, who is awfully short at 80/1 with some firms as the Foxes set sail on a Champions League voyage of dreams.
