Liverpool long odds on to bounce back to form v Portsmouth

Rafa Benitez will be hoping that his Liverpool side can bounce back to form with the visit of sturggling Portsmouth to Anfield on Monday night. The Reds boss has been coming under increasing pressure of late after a poor run of results has seen the Merseyside club slip completely out of the title race and facing an uphill battle to finish fourth.

Just one win in their last four mathces has seen Liverpool slip to sixth in the Premier League table and bookmaker Paddy Power have lengthened the odds of Rafa's men finishing 4th out to 11/4. Defeat to Lille in the first leg of last 16 of the Europa League on Thursday also saw the Reds drift in the betting to win that competiton fuelling speculation that Benitez could be leaving come the end of the season.

However, Liverpool have the chance to get back to winning ways on Monday against a Portsmouth side who have far worse troubles. Rooted to the bottom of the table, in administration and facing a nine point deducation, it is understandable to see Liverpool as the odds on 1/4 favourites to beat Pompey, whilst the visitors are chalked up to spring a major shock at odds of 12/1 with Victor Chandler.
