The Premiership season is well underway now and the games will come thick and fast in the period leading up to Christmas as the league table begins to take shape. The games can't come soon enough for some managers, while for others the pressure will build and there might be a few chairmen who get a bit twitchy. Or maybe the manager will just have had enough as Ian Holloway claims he will quit Blackpool if he is fined by the FA for changing 10 players for his side's match against Aston Villa. Holloway's odds of being the next Premier League manager to during the 2010/2011 season are 40/1 with Paddy Power bookmakers incidentally, but some others aren't sitting quite so comfortably...
Roberto Mancini of Manchester City for one might not be feeling completely at ease with life at Eastlands after fierce criticism of his negative tactics in the Manchester derby, while one win in five doesn't make for happy reading after spending millions in the summer. It seems foolish to suggest a manager whose team are fourth in the Premiership is under pressure after one season in charge, but one only has to think back to Mark Hughes untimely demise at the same club in December of last year to know that patience isn't a virtue that the City hierarchy possess. Paddypower.com currently have Mancini as a 2/1 bet to be the manager to walk or be pushed, which is considerably shorter than the 25/1 he was quoted as just three week ago.
Another manager who has come in for unfair criticism at times is Chris Hughton at Newcastle who has masterminded some stunning results during their first season back in the top flight, not least the 6-0 and 5-1 wins over Villa and Sunderland respectively. They currently occupy 5th place in the league, far above even the most optimistic fan' expectations, but the knives appear out for Hughton who is perhaps not fashionable enough for the Premiership in some people's eyes. His odds of being the next to leave are currently 7/1 with Paddy Power but are as changeable as the weather with each passing result.
Roy Hodgson meanwhile has bought himself some time at Liverpool following a run of three successive wins and a satisfactory 1-1 draw with Wigan. His side have gone from unlikely relegation candidates to Champions League contenders since the 2-1 win against Blackburn. Hodgson was 4/7 to go, but those odds have lengthened considerably to 7/1 with Paddy Power bookmakers.
The man who appears to be most in danger is Avram Grant at West Ham as his side prop up the rest of the league, and he is now odds on 7/4 favourite to be the next manager to leave or be sacked with Paddypower.com. Those odds have shortened massively from 12/1 just a few weeks ago. There will be a few other managers hoping for a few decent results over the next few weeks to ease any possible pre-Christmas exit as the Premiership pressure cooker turns up a notch.

5/1 Roberto Martinez
7/1 Roy Hodgon
