Betting on Martin O'Neill's next Manager Role: England the favourites

Following the somewhat shock news that Martin O’Neill resigned his position with Aston Villa with immediate effect there is some speculation where he will next appear. O’Neill had been with Villa since 2006 and under his guidance had lifted Villa from a mid-table club to that of one with European ambitions.

A manager with O’Neill’s calibre will not rest on his laurels for long, in the past he only been absent from the game when he quit Celtic to care for his wife, there is a train of thought that he may like to return here and there could soon be an opportunity as new manager Neil Lennon has not had the best start to his season, losing his first two games in the Champions League.

There is little doubt that he will return to the game as quickly as possible, whether this is a replacement for a manager sacked during this season or whether he takes a full year off remains to be seen.
