West Ham v Man City Odds: Betting predicts close match at Upton Park

West Ham host Manchester City at Upton Park on Saturday with both sides in need of points for very different reasons. Fourth placed City can reinforce their title credentials and are favourites for the match at odds of 10/11 with Bet365 bookmakers. A win for the struggling Hammers is at odds of 11/5, with the draw very tempting odds of 12/5.

Avram Grant is under increasing pressure and he will be concerned that he might be the next manager to depart his post after Chris Hughton. His side have shown shoots of improvement of late, stunning Man United 4-0 in the Carling Cup and beating fellow strugglers Wigan 3-1. They lost 1-0 at Sunderland last weekend but there is no shame in that against a Sunderland side who are unbeaten at home this season.

West Ham may be bottom of the Premier League but they have managed to score in seven of eight fixtures at Upton Park this term and are unbeaten in three at home. Victor Obinna has been excellent for them so far this season and he is 8/1 to score first on Saturday, or 5/2 to score anytime, with Bet365.com.

However they have only won two games at home this season and a record of one win in ten Premier League matches doesn't make for happy reading. The loss of Mark Noble will hit them hard and they will rely heavily on inspriational midfielder Scott Parker, who was this week linked with a move away. This game was meant to witness the return of Carlos Tevez to Upton Park but he is suspended and is a major loss for City as he has scored 10 goals this season and 33 in 50 appearances. Their over reliance on him has seen him score nearly half of their 21 Premier League goals this season and they look a lesser side without him. It is worth lookinng at there being under 2.5 goals in the match with Bet365 at odds of 17/20, but the real value is under 1.5 goals at 12/5.

They scraped a 1-0 win over Bolton last time out and Mario Balotelli, odds on 5/1 favourite to score first, will be expected to carry the burden in Tevez's absence. At the other end City have kept four clean sheets during an unbeaten run of six Premier Leagie matches, and the odds of an away clean sheet are currently 13/8 with Bet365.com.

CIty have only lost two of their last 15 away matches but West Ham have shown signs of improvement and the draw looks like it could be the way to go in the betting. It is likely to be a low scoring affair with City's mean defence, the lack of Tevez, and the fact the last seven meeting between these teams have yielded seven goals. The corresponding fixture last season finished 1-1 and that looks good value at odds of 11/2 with Bet 365
