Bosnia-Herzegovina v Portugal Odds: Ronaldo hot favourite in the first scorer betting

The stand out tie of the Euro 2012 play-offs sees Bosnia-Herzegovina host Portugal in their first leg match on Friday night. Bosnia start as underdogs at odds of 23/10 at the Bilno Polje in Zenica and Portugal look a decent punt to take advantage of a depleted Bosnia side, with William Hill making them 13/10 favourite, with the draw coming in at 21/10.

Portugal are 4/11 odds on to qualify for next year's Championships, while Bosnia are 2/1 to make it through the two legged tie.

Bosnia finished second to France in Group D during qualifying and only a controversial penalty in their 1-1 draw with France in the last match denied them a place in the finals. It was the third penalty in their last four matches in fact and Hills go industry best priced 10/3 that a penalty is awarded on Friday.

Despite that draw against France, Bosnia have suffered defeat in only one of their last eight matches and are unbeaten in their last five at home. Manchester City's Edin Dzeko, who has scored eight goals in his last seven appearances for the Premier League club, has been a key performer for them and he is 6/1 to score first after notching two in his last two international appearances.

However, Bosnia's main concern will be their selection problems at the back. First choice defender Mensur Mudjza is out injured, while fellow defenders Boris Pandza and Sasa Papac are both suspended for Friday's match and that could be a key factor in the tie.

Portugal have scored in each of their last eleven matches and they look good value to grab a crucial away goal, with both teams to score priced 21/20. Portugal's last four matches have involved over 2.5 goals and over 2.5 this weeks is a decent punt at 11/8.

Bosnia must be fearful of what Portugal's attacking talents can do and it is tough to look anywhere other than Cristiano Ronaldo for a first scorer. The Real Madrid star has scored 20 goals for club and country already this season and he is 7/2 favourite to score first with WilliamHill.com. Furthermore, Ronaldo scored his fourth hat-trick of the season in the 7-1 win over Osasuna at the weekend and he is a tempting 20/1 to score a hat-trick on Friday.

Paulo Bento has opted to leave Jose Boswinga out of his team as his side look to make up for the fact that they failed to qualify from Group H. They could only finish second to Denmark but we fancy them to overcome Bosnia this week.

It could come down to a late goal as their last three matches have involved seven goals in the last ten minutes, with Hills offering 7/4 that a goal is scored between the 81st minute and full time in Friday's match.
