Thierry Henry would appear to write his own scripts after his stunning return to action in the Arsenal shirt on Monday night. The 34-year-old striker marked his return to Arsenal with his 227th goal for the Gunners and Paddy Power have already opened up betting specials on what the Frenchman can achieve during his spell at the Emirates.
Henry is at Arsenal on an eight week loan deal from New York Red Bulls and things got off to the best possible start when he came off the bench to score the winner in a 1-0 win over Leeds in the FA Cup. It was Henry's first appearance in an Arsenal shirt for five years and media coverage has hit fever pitch after his goal against Leeds.
He has plenty to do to match his achievements during his first spell at Arsenal from 1999 to 2007 and PaddyPower.com offer a market on how many goals he will score in the league during his loan spell. They go 4/6 that he scores under 2.5 goals in the Premier League and 11/10 that he scores over 2.5 goals in the league.
Arsene Wenger is likely to use his veteran striker sparingly this season and Henry himself said: "I'll be on the bench most of the time - if I can make the bench, that is. Even if it is just five seconds, one second, or just talking in the dressing room, I will give my best whatever it is."
Henry has made the best possible start though and fans are undoubtedly going to want to see more of their hero during the next eight weeks.
Paddy Power offer odds on how many Premier League matches Henry will start before he heads back to New York. Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh are heading off to the African Cup of Nations and with neither of them prolific anyway it could open the door for a few more Henry appearances.
Henry is 11/4 to not start a single league match, while he is 21/10 to start just the one game. Paddy Power offer a tempting 5/2 for him to start two games, 5/1 for three matches and 6/1 for him to start four or more games.
His eight week loan spell includes matches against Manchester United and Tottenham and there is likely to be huge interest in his odds of scoring another important goal in those matches. First up though is Swansea in Sunday's live afternoon match and Henry is an industry best priced 11/2 to be last goalscorer in that match with Bet 365 as the Frenchman looks to continue his fairytale return to life at Arsenal.
