Rangers v Dundee Utd Odds: Nikica Jelavic heads the betting to score first

The Scottish Premier League season is reaching its climax and Rangers can move a step closer to retaining their title with victory over Dundee United at Ibrox on Tuesday night. Bet 365 make the reigning champions 1/4 on to win the match, but Dundee were the last side to win at Ibrox and are available at odds of 9/1, with the draw priced 5/1, as they look to improve their own European aspirations.

Rangers have forged ahead of Celtic at the top of the table and are now one point clear of their bitter rivals. They meet Dundee United for the third time in five weeks in the league though and will be well aware that United pulled off a shock 3-2 win at Ibrox at the beginning of April.

Since that defeat Rangers have gone unbeaten in eight matches and during that time they thumped the same opponents 4-0 at Tannadice Park. Their attacking prowess has been on show in recent weeks as well as they have scored nine goals in two matches and top scorer Nikica Jelavic will be champing at the bit. It is a must win match for Dundee as they sit in fourth place and still have an outside of catching third placed Hearts, who currently occupy the final European place and are five points clear. Dundee manager Peter Houston has selection problems with Darren Dods out and Danny Swanson a doubt for Tuesday night.

Houston does boast the attacking talents of David Goodwillie though as the striker has caught the attention of Championship sides with 19 goals this season. Goodwillie scored the late winner in the 3-2 victory at Ibrox in April and he can be backed at odds of 11/1 to score first or even 3/1 to score anytime.

Dundee certainly look to have a fine chance of scoring despite Rangers' fine recent defensive record as United have scored in sixteen of their eighteen away matches this term, with both teams to score priced 6/5 by Bet 365.

However, Dundee might struggle to reproduce the brilliance of their 3-2 win and the match could well involve a team scoring four goals once more, with the correct score of 4-1 to Rangers a tempting 18/1 as the Ibrox side look to move a step closer to another league title.
