Red Hot Liverpool Should Be Too Strong For Improving Everton

Sunday 10th December 2017, 2.15pm - Liverpool v Everton

What a Sunday afternoon of football we have ahead of us and all eyes will be on Anfield as Liverpool host Everton in what is likely to be a thrilling Merseyside Derby. Always one of the biggest games of the season, both teams go into this one on top form and there should be a sizzling atmosphere.

  • Everton have not won a game at Anfield this century - their last success was a 1-0 in 1999
  • Sam Allardyce was the last Manager to win a game at Anfield - Crystal Palace won 2-1 back in April

Liverpool The Clear Favourites

Since losing to Spurs in October, Liverpool have been on a tremendous run and that has continued this week with 12 goals in their last two matches.

They destroyed Brighton 5-1 last weekend before smashing seven past Spartak Moscow in midweek, and it is far to say that their attacking line is in great form. The fab four of Coutinho, Firmino, Mane and Salah are all in fine fettle in front of goal and they are more than good enough to rip a slightly dodgy Everton defence to shreds this weekend.

With that in mind, Liverpool are 2/7 with Coral to win the game outright, with the Toffees around a 10/1 shot with the same firm.

Can The Liverpool Attack Be Stopped?

In recent weeks, Liverpool have been nothing short of sensational in front of goal with 19 goals in their last six Premier League matches, and we saw that run boosted even further with their seven star display in Europe.

That tally of 19 goals in their last six games is equal to the entire tally Everton have produced all season, and that disparity is likely to shine through. Everton have won their last two League games against two struggling teams in the form of West Ham and Huddersfield but this is a massive step-up in class for Sam Allardyce.

Allardyce loves taking on the big boys and beating them, as he did against Liverpool with Palace earlier this season, and he will make sure that the Toffees are no pushovers. This is a massive ask though for an Everton team with a woeful record at their nearest neighbours, and a defence that has been woeful for long periods this term.

Liverpool will need to be wary of Everton from set-pieces but you have to fancy the Liverpool attack will be too fast and too skillful. Punters won't be getting rich backing the Reds outright but their form has been so impressive of late that the 15/8 with Coral about them winning both halves is an attractive punt.
