There is a London Derby in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as it's Arsenal v Fulham at the Emirates. The Gunners have had much the better of recent meetings between these two sides and they start as odds on favourites in the match betting as Fulham bid to win an away match at their London rivals for the first time in 26 attempts.
Fulham have never won a match at Arsenal, which is a run that stretches back 26 games, including 22 defeats. With that in mind it is no surprise to see that Arsenal go into the match as a 1/3 punt with William Hill, who price Fulham 4/1 and the draw 3/1.
With such a formidable home record against their London rivals, Arsenal will have few better opportunities to improve on their worst ever Premier League start to a season under Arsene Wenger. The Gunners did rediscover some form of sorts in the Champions League in mid-week as they took a creditable 2-2 draw from their match with Schalke, despite going 2-0 up, and the form of Theo Walcott was a particular highlight. The 'contract rebel' again pushed his case for a regular starting place at the Emirates as he opened the scoring in Germany to take his tally to eight goals for the season, with Hills going 11/2 he scores first and a tempting 3/1 that he scores anytime in an Arsenal win.
Walcott's recent form has been a rare highlight in an otherwise dismal season for Wenger and co. and scoring goals has rarely been an issue. Fulham boast enough of a goal threat to cause problems this weekend and for an outside punt it could be worth a look at Steve Sidwell to score first at a juicy 20/1 as the midfielder has scored in both of his Premier League appearances for Fulham against Arsenal. However, Fulham have tended to throw away leads this season, losing 12 points from winning positions, and Hills go 15/4 for Arsenal to come from behind and win or draw.
Late goals have been a major reason for their inability to hold on to leads as there have been 10 goals in the final 10 minutes of their last seven games and a goal to be scored between 81 minutes and full-time on Saturday can be backed at 6/5. Furthermore, Martin Jol's side's last seven have involved seven 90th minute goals and a goal to be scored in injury time is a 15/4 bet.
Fulham were indebted to a late goal to rescue a 2-2 draw with Everton last weekend which ensured they remain in eighth place in the table, although their poor record at Arsenal and their run of one win in six away this season hardly inspires confidence that they can take advantage of a fragile Arsenal.
