The news going into Monday's live FA Cup 3rd round tie between Arsenal and Leeds United is the second coming of Thierry Henry. The Frenchman left the North London club in 2007 to join Barcelona where he won two La Liga championships and one Champions League. Henry has since joined the New York Red Bulls in the MLS but has been training with Arsenal the past few weeks to keep him fit during his out-season and Arsene Wenger has decided to have a punt on him helping Arsenal by sighing on a two month loan deal.
Time will tell whether this move is inspired or desperation but Arsenal hurried through the paperwork in order for Henry to be available for this match so we can expect him to feature. Arsenal are 2/9 favourites with Bet365 to win the match, whilst Henry is a 10/3 chance to score the first goal and an incredibly short 4/6 to score anytime.
It's likely that Wenger will try and get a rest into skipper and talisman Robin Van Persie and what with Marouane Chamakh delaying his trip to the African Cup of Nations, the Morrocan is a likely starter on Monday night and is 4/1 to net the first goal- with Bet 365. Exciting youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain may well get a rare start also on the right of a front three and at odds of 13/8 to score anytime that looks a decent bet.
Leeds are currently eighth in the Championship despite a lengthy injury list and despite chucking in a few howlers this season Simon Grayson's side certainly appear to have good bouncebackability! Leeds have won five and drawn three of their thirteen away games in the Championship and some of the players will still have the meeting with Arsenal at this stage of the FA Cup last season when Leeds were denied a win at The Emirates by a last minute equaliser via the penalty spot. Arsenal were arguably a stronger outfit twelve months ago and Leeds could exploit the defensive injury and suspension problems Arsenal are currently having.
The likes of Thomas Vermaelen, Bacary Sagna, Carl Jenkinson and Andre Santos are all injured whilst Johan Djorou misses the match through suspension. Fulham really got at the Arsenal flanks in the second half at Craven Cottage a week ago and the signing of Spurs winger Andros Townsend on loan could see Leeds get some joy down the left. Bet365 make Leeds 9/1 to win whilst the draw is a 9/2 shot. Leeds could be a decent bet in the draw no bet market where you can back them at attractive odds of 8/1, whilst backing both teams to score at odds of 8/11 could also prove to be fruitful.
