Man City v Bayern Munich Betting: Tempting odds for Balotelli to score last

Manchester City are no longer in control of their Champions League destiny ahead of their live Group A clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. It is a must win clash for City at the Etihad and they start as 8/13 favourites in the betting with Bet 365, while Bayern are priced 4/1 and the draw can be backed at an industry best price of 16/5.

City are currently third in Group A ahead of the final round of matches this week and if they are to qualify for the knockout stages they must beat Bayern and hope Napoli fail to beat Villarreal in the other group match.

Roberto Mancini's side will have to focus on doing the business at the Etihad, although Bayern have won six of their last eight Champions League away matches and Bet 365 offer the Bayern win or draw at 6/5 in the double chance market.

We fancy Bayern to take an early lead at the Etihad at least as they have scored the most first half goals in the Champions League this term (9), while City have conceded first in four of their five matches in the competition. B365 offer an industry best priced 2/1 for the German side to score first and that could be well worth a punt.

Mario Gomez in particular has been on fire this season as he has scored six goals in five Champions League appearances and he is 11/2 to score first on Wednesday. His teammate Franck Ribery has been amongst the goals of late as well as he has scored four in his last three appearances, with Bet365.com offering 12/1 for him to score first or 7/2 to score anytime.

The fact Bayern have already qualified could see them take their foot off the gas though and their recent form should give City hope. Bayern have won just two of their last four in the Bundesliga and have won just one of their last five away matches in all competitions.

Furthermore, they have won just two of sixteen European ties in England and have lost the last three on English soil. City on the other hand are in fine form in the Premier League and while they have struggled to adapt to Europe, they boast an impressive home record as they have lost just one of their last 31 European matches at home.

Sergio Aguero will be looking to get on the scoresheet once more and he can be backed at 4/1 in the first goalscorer betting after scoring four in his last six for club and country. Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini has indicated that Mario Balotelli, who has scored ten in his last twelve, might not start City's important matches and we fancy the look of him to come on and score, with B365 going 5/1 for him to score last.

Goals certainly look to be on the cards and the 2-1 win to City is available at 7/1 in the correct score market, but it's tough to see Napoli not beating Villarreal and City might have to settle with Europa League football for the rest of the season.
