Tottenham welcome Blackpool to White Hart Lane in the late Saturday afternoon kick-off and both sides are in desperate need of points for very different reasons. Spurs are still chasing a European place and are odds on 3/10 favourites to win the match according to Victor Chandler, while Blackpool are fighting for Premier League survival and are big outsiders at odds of 19/2. But the draw could be the way to go, particularly at an industry best of 5/1.
Both sides are woefully out of form of late and Spurs' dreams of another European adventure are fading fast. They are now sixth in the league, seven points behind Man City and that all important fourth spot that secures Champions League football for next season, and now behind Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand.
Harry Redknapp's side are probably going to have to deal without the injured Tom Huddlestone and Benoit Assou-Ekotto again this weekend as they look to improve a run of form that has seen them win just once in their last eight league matches. They should welcome a fixture at White Hart Lane though as they are unbeaten in five there, with three of the last four ending in draws.
Despite their indifferent run of form, there has been plenty of entertainment in Spurs' matches with 18 goals coming from their last four. Over 2.5 goals is unsurprisingly 2/5 on when they come up against a Blackpool defence that has conceded 70 this term, the most in the league, and it could be worthwhile to look for a bit of value at over 3.5 at odds of 20/21 or even over 4.5 at 21/10 (Spurs last four matches average 4.5 goals per game).
Jermain Defoe will be one man who hopes he is in the goals and he has impressed of late after enduring a difficult season that has seen him just score 11 goals. He scored against West Brom last time out at White Hart Lane and at odds of 17/4 to be first goalscorer with VictorChandler.com he could be worth a look.
Blackpool meanwhile have dropped down the table having won just one of their last fifteen matches, although that was a 3-1 home win against Spurs, and have lost ten of those. They may have failed to win in their last six away but they have picked up 18 points away from home this season which gives them the eighth best away record in the league.
Ian Holloway's men now sit in seventeenth place, out of the relegation zone only on goal difference, and with matches against Bolton and Man United still to come. There have been signs of recovery of late with two draws from their last two matches and a return to form for DJ Campbell, although Chris Basham and David Carey are still injured.
Campbell has scored two in his last three and is 10/1 to score first; although Blackpool have conceded first in six of their last eight, so Campbell as an anytime scorer could be a better punt at 13/5 with Victor Chandler.
Taking into account both teams poor form of late we fancy Blackpool will scrap their way to a point this weekend and maintain their survival hopes, with the correct score of 2-2 available at a juicy 16/1 with VC Bet.
