Wales v Switzerland Odds: Gareth Bale a good bet to score first in Swansea

Wales are playing for pride on Friday night as they welcome Switzerland to the Liberty Stadium in Swansea in this Euro 2012 Group G qualifier. Wales currently sit bottom of the group with just one win to their names in six matches, but following a good display at Wembley last time out, Gary Speed's side will be hopeful they can de-rail Switzerland's faint hopes of qualifying for next summer's European Championships. Bookmaker Paddy Power makes the Swiss 3/4 odds on favourites to get the three points they need, whilst Wales can be backed at 7/2 and the draw at 5/2.

Wales are currently ranked 90th in the world by FIFA which looks a tad harsh based on their last two performances. Gary Speed's side won well at home to Montenegro, who were previously unbeaten during the Group G campaign, before going down to a solitary goal at Wembley last time out. With Craig Bellamy returning to side after his suspension against England and a home crowd behind them, the Welsh look a good bet at 7/2.

The future is bright for Switzerland who have a number of good youngsters coming through who performed well in the under-21 tournament in the Summer. Switzerland currently sit third in Group G on eight points, knowing that a win on Friday and defeat to Montenegro against England will leave them level on points ahead of a home match against the Montenegrans on Tuesday night, with the winner gaining a place in the play-offs for next summer's championship in Poland and the Ukraine.

The Swiss are favourites to win the match based on their Group performances so far, but they are yet to win away from home during this campaign, losing in Montenegro and drawing with Bulgaria and England. It could be a bad time to be playing the Welsh, off the back of a little run of form and Craig Bellamy back in the starting line-up. Gary Speed's side really caused Montenegro problems with Bellamy and Bale rampaging down the flanks in a forward three and the Tottenham winger looks a good bet to open the scoring at 10/1 with Paddy Power.

It's no surprise that under 2.5 goals has been priced up odds on by Paddy Power (4/6) and it could well be a game of few goals. Wales also look a good bet in the double chance betting market, where you can back Wales to win or draw at odds of 10/11.
