England just need a point in Montenegro this Friday night to secure a safe passage to next summer's European Championships as Group G winners. Bookmaker Ladbrokes make Fabio Capello's side 1/100 to qualify as winner of Group G and 8/11 to win this match in Montenegro on Friday. The home side sacked their manager following defeat to Wales last month and can be backed at 4/1 to win here whilst the required draw is 5/2.
Despite some poor results at Wembley during this campaign, England's away form is the reason why they can qualify as Group G winners with a draw in Podgorica on Friday night. Draws at home to Friday's opponents and Switzerland plus a less than impressive 1-0 win over Wales last time out have been evened out with good wins in Switzerland, Bulgaria and Wales during this campaign.
England have won their last four away games and all three of their games away in Euro 2012 qualification. The team seem to prefer playing against a team not set up to defend, although you wouldn't expect Montenegro to go for the jugular from the first minute on Friday.
Montenegro have probably over achieved during this campaign thanks to an excellent start when they won 1-0 in their first three matches of the campaign before drawing 0-0 at Wembley. A 2-1 defeat in Wales followed a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Bulgaria in their last two matches and they must now beat England and also win away in Switzerland next Tuesday to qualify as group winners.
Fabio Capello has a near full strength squad of players to choose from and the in-form Wayne Rooney heads the betting to score first at odds of 9/2 with Ladbrokes. The Manchester United striker has only scored three times during this qualification campaign and there might be more value in backing Ashley Young at odds of 7/1. The United winger scored the only goal against Wales last time out and is likely to play in behind Rooney at the front of the attack on Friday.
England have kept a clean sheet in all but two of their qualification matches for Euro 2012 and are 5/4 to keep a clean sheet on Friday with Ladbrokes. England should be too strong for this Montenegro side who are heavily reliant on Mirko Vucinic and Stevan Jovetic, who both ply their trade in Serie A. You can back England to win to nil at odds of 7/4.
Nine of England's fifteen goals in this qualification campaign have come in the first half and it might be prudent to back them to continue this trend, with Ladbrokes going 11/10 that England score the first goal in the first half on Friday night.
