Hodgson to be sacked odds: Liverpool boss feeling pressure after poor start

The odds on Roy Hodgson to be sacked by Liverpool have been slashed following the team's away defeat to Blackburn which left the Reds languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League as this disappointing season continues at Anfield. Hodgson is now a 4/6 odds on chance to be given the axe by the Liverpool board with bookmaker Skybet.

Frank Rijkard is the bookmakers favourite to be the next Liverpool manager with Skybet making the Dutchman 3/1 to replace Hodgson in the Liverpool hotseat.

Hodgson, who took over at Liverpool in the summer following the departure of Rafa Benitez has brought in a number of his own signings including Joe Cole, Paul Konchesky, Raul Meireles and Christian Poulsen but has struggled to get off to a good start to the season. With just six points to show from a possible 21, including four defeats, there had been a mini-revival but this latest away defeat at the hands of Blackburn led to fans singing 'you'll be sacked in the morning' it doesn't look good for the former Fulham boss.

The 3-1 defeat means that Liverpool sit in twelve place in the Premier League, just four points ahead of the dropzone. It was Liverpool's ninth defeat of the season and seventh on the road.

Names already being linked to the job should Hodgson get the boot, include the mentioned 3/1 favourite, Frank Rijkaard, as well as Marseille manager Didier Deschamps at 4/1 along with Liverpool favourite Kenny Dalgliesh, who has consistently been linked with the job since Rafa Benitez left in the summer. Benitez himsefl is a 5/1 chance as he's a free agent following his sacking by Inter Milan over Christmas whilst another out of work high profile manager Martin O'Neill is 7/1 with Sky Bet.
