The FA Cup resumes this weekend and there are plenty of local derbies and 'David v Goliath' ties to keep punters interested. The lower league clubs will be hoping to prove that the romance of the cup is still alive and Oldham open the weekend's proceedings as 18/1 underdogs with Bet 365 for their live match at Liverpool (1/12) on Friday night.
It is tough to see an upset at Anfield but the live Saturday lunch time kick-off could see a Premier League club exiting the competition as Wolves head to Championship side and Midlands rivals Birmingham. Wolves (2/1) have won just one of their last eight and we fancy the Blues are worth backing at 11/8 to get one over on their near neighbours.
The action doesn't stop there as a couple of non-league teams hope to write themselves into FA Cup folklore, with Tamworth, 15th in the Blue Square Premier League, 20/1 outsiders for their trip to Everton on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Salisbury, 16th in the Blue Square South, are 14/1 to beat Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
Elsewhere on Saturday, several Premier League teams face tricky ties against lower league opposition, with Wigan (6/5) heading to Swindon (23/10), who currently sit fourth in League Two, while Bolton's (4/6) recent struggles could continue at the hands of Macclesfield (4/1). Burnley are enjoying a fine season in the Championship and we like the look of them to win at Carrow Road against Norwich, with B365 pricing them 16/5 as they bid to prove their Premier League credentials.
A more left field pick could come at White Hart Lane, where Harry Redknapp is likely to field a weakened Tottenham team against Cheltenham, who are second in League Two after winning six of their last seven away and going unbeaten in nine, with B365 offering a juicy 20/1 for the upset.
A more likely upset could come at the Memorial Stadium in the live Saturday evening match as struggling Aston Villa (8/13) head to Bristol Rovers (9/2 with Bet365.com), who could revive the romance of the FA Cup with caretaker manager Shaun North taking control for his first game since Paul Buckle was sacked this week.
The eye-catching tie between defending champions Manchester City (11/10) and Manchester United (5/2) is the live Sunday lunchtime offering from the Etihad Stadium as the two meet for the first time since City's famous 6-1 win at Old Trafford.
That is followed by Peterborough (11/4) and Sunderland (evs) in the live afternoon match and even though this may have seemed like a potential upset when the draw was made, the arrival of Martin O'Neill as Black Cats manager would appear to have righted the ship.
The third round concludes with Arsenal (2/9) against Leeds (14/1) on Monday night and Thierry Henry could be set to make his second Arsenal debut following his arrival from LA Galaxy, with punters sure to take an interest in the Frenchman in the goalscorer betting markets.
