Newcastle v Everton Odds: Demba Ba favourite to score first

Newcastle look good value to keep up their fine Premier League form when they host Everton in the live Saturday lunchtime kick-off. Newcastle are one of only two sides still unbeaten in the top flight and they can be backed to gain another three points at 5/4 with William Hill, while Everton and the draw are each priced 9/4.

Alan Pardew is rightly receiving plenty of plaudits after guiding his side to third in the Premier League. They and Man City are the only sides with an unbeaten record in the division and Newcastle are now unbeaten in their last thirteen league matches.

Their success so far has been based on a fine defensive record as they have conceded the least amount of goals in the league. They have only conceded seven so far and Tim Krul are co are 6/4 to keep a clean sheet during the Newcastle v Everton match.

They have conceded just three goals during the first half of matches and we fancy they look a good punt in the double result market this weekend. They are 5/2 to be winning at half time and full time, which looks good value on current form.

It is not just defensively that Pardew's men have excelled as Demba Ba has been prolific in front of goal. Ba is being talked about as one of the signings of the season after his hat-trick secured a 3-1 win at Stoke on Monday night. It was Ba's eighth goal in his last five Premier League matches and he can be backed at odds of 5/1 to be first scorer with WilliamHill.com.

Pardew will have to do without the services of Shola Ameobi once again, while Cheik Tiote is a doubt.

Everton manager David Moyes has selection problems of his own as Marouane Fellaini is suspended, Victor Anichebe remains out injured, while Phil Neville, Tim Cahill and Johnny Heitinga are all very doubtful. Royston Drenthe does return from suspension though.

It has been a tough period for the Toffees as they have lost four of their last five matches and find themselves languishing down in sixteenth place in the league, albeit having played a game less than most. It is something of a typical season for them as they are notoriously slow starters but they will want to pick up positive results soon.

Louis Saha recent form may give them hope as he has scored two in his last three, with Hills pricing him 13/2 to score first. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in seven and have picked up just win on their last nine visits to St James Park.

That sole win came last season but we fancy Newcastle's current form should be enough to see of this Everton side, with the correct score of 1-0 available at 13/2.

Newcastle have won five and drawn four of their last nine league matches at home, while their last four matches have involved five goals scored in the last fifteen minutes - with William Hill offering odds of 23/20 for a goal to be scored between the 76th minute and full time on Saturday.
