Man Utd v Sunderland Betting: Ferguson's side odds on to win at Old Trafford

Manchester United welcome Sunderland to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as they look to keep up the pressure on bitter rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. Sir Alex Ferguson's men are 1/4 on to take three points in the match betting with Paddy Power, while Sunderland are 12/1 to cause an upset during the weekend of Ferguson's 25th anniversary as United manager.

Ferguson opted to play Rooney in midfield against Otelul Galati in the Champions League on Wednesday due to injury problems, although expect Rooney to play a more advanced role on Saturday as Ashley Young and Ryan Giggs are set to return.

Tom Cleverley, Chris Smalling and Darron Gibson are set to remain out, while Nemanja Vidic returns from suspension.

Rooney is 13/5 favourite in the betting to score first, but Javier Hernandez looks a more tempting bet at 7/2 as he has scored two goals in his last three starts after an injury interrupted start to the season.

United have scored first in eight of their ten matches this term and they will look to continue a formidable home record - they have won 32 of their last 35 in the league at Old Trafford, although their 6-1 defeat to City highlights the fragility of this United defence. Sunderland have scored in each of their last seven matches and we fancy both teams to score at 5/6 with Paddy Power.

United may have kept three clean sheets in a row but they rode their luck against Everton last weekend and the other two came against minnows Aldershot and Otelul. It could be a fine time for Sunderland to put a halt to their dismal record of failing to scored in seven of the last nine against United.

However, United are unbeaten in eighteen against Sunderland, winning thirteen of them, and they should comfortably win against a Black Cats side that are under increasing pressure. Steve Bruce's position as manager has been questioned in recent months, although a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa last weekend will have appeased fans somewhat.

They have conceded first in seven of their ten matches this season, although Stephane Sessegnon has been an influential figure. He has scored or set up each of Sunderland's last four goals and he is 14/1 to score first or a tempting 4/1 in the betting to score anytime with PaddyPower.com.

Sunderland remain without Frazier Campbell, while Stephane Mignolet has been ruled out after fracturing an eye socket. The keeper will be replaced by Keiren Westwood, who was recalled from a loan spell with Bury, and the young stopper is set to make his first Premier League start.

Westwood could be in for a baptism of fire, with the  correct score of 3-1 to United available at 9/1. Meanwhile, there have been 18 goals in the last 15 minutes of matches involving Man Utd and Sunderland this season and Paddy Power offer 10/11 that the last goal of Saturday's match is scored after the 77th minute.
