Blackburn v Chelsea Betting: Blues odds on to get back to winning ways

After looking like title contenders just a couple of weeks ago, Chelsea must now only be considered as one of the challengers in the race for the top-four this season.

After losing two in a row they now sit fourth in the league table, level on points with Tottenham, and they have been dragged back into the chasing pack of those looking to get into the Champions League places.

It is dangerous territory to be in as the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool are all strong teams focused on making it back into the lucrative top spots in the Premier League. Chelsea do not want to be fighting it out with them for the rest of the season and must try get back up towards the league leaders and put some distance between the chasing pack.

They have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways this Saturday when they travel to Ewood Park to take Blackburn. Steve Kean’s side are 18th in the table and have not won a game in the league since the middle of September. They were denied all three points away to Norwich last Saturday as they crucially gave away two late goals.

Rovers have lost their last two home games by a combined scoreline of 6-1 and the bookmakers fancy them to be on the end of another defeat at the weekend. Chelsea are odds-on favourites at 5/11 with Unibet while a Blackburn win is 11/2 and a draw offered at 13/4.

After drawing 1-1 away to Genk in the Champions League midweek, Chelsea still don’t seem to have put their slump behind them. The team seemed to be re-invigorated under Anders Villas-Boas throughout the early part of the season but now they are poor and performances have been inconsistent.

Chelsea don’t look as if they will be able to last the pace with the Manchester clubs in the title race this season, especially not City, and they need to win now to hang onto their place in the top-four.

A couple of weeks’ ago you would have expected a big win for Chelsea over Blackburn but you can’t be too sure now. They have conceded in six of their eight away games in all competitions this season and with the way the defence has been lately Blackburn have a good chance of scoring on Saturday.
