The live Sunday afternoon match looks like it has the possibility to have a huge bearing on the fortunes of Wolves and Sunderland in the Premier League. Sunderland of course sacked Steve Bruce earlier this week and they start the match as slight outsiders at 21/10, while Wolves are in desperate need of points and they can be backed at odds of 13/10 with Paddy Power.
Both sides are hovering just above the relegation zone and it is a match that neither can afford to lose, even though we are not yet halfway through the season. It is tough to pick a winner but Wolves have won the last three matches against Sunderland and we fancy Mick McCarthy can start to turn things around.
McCarthy should start to see the best of Steven Fletcher now the big striker looks to have fully recovered from his injury and he starts at 13/2 to score first. Meanwhile, Jamie O'Hara is 8/1 to be first goalscorer, although it might be a better bet to take a look at Sunderland to score first.
Wolves have conceded 65% of goals in the first half of matches this season, a league high, and Paddy Power offer 11/10 for Sunderland to score first at Molineux. Goals could well be in store as none of the last ten Wolves v Sunderland fixtures have witnessed a clean sheet from either side. The last five between the two have involved over 2.5 goals and Paddy Power go evens on over 2.5 this weekend.
It is defensively that Wolves have struggled this term as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine matches in all competitions and they have kept just one in their last eleven at home in the league.
It could be an ideal opportunity for Sunderland striker Stephane Sessegnon to justify his transfer fee and he is 8/1 to be first goalscorer. He and Nicklas Bendtner have failed to get the goals that Sunderland have needed this season and Steve Bruce paid the ultimate price for the whole team's failure.
The defensive errors that marred their 2-1 defeat to Wigan last weekend won't be easily eradicated and both teams to score is 4/6 odds on with PaddyPower.com. Sunderland are without Craig Gordon, Connor Wickham and Frazier Campbell are out once again this weekend as they bid to improve their record of two wins in fourteen this season.
Meanwhile, Wolves last three matches have involved three penalties and a penalty being awarded can be backed at odds of 21/10 with Paddy Power.
It could be a cagey affair early on during Sunday's match and the second half to be the highest scoring at evens could be worth a look, although we fancy Wolves to take a crucial three points.
