West Ham v Man Utd Odds: Back a score draw in the Upton Park betting

Attention returns to the Premier League this weekend following the international break as resurgent West Ham host table-topping Man Utd in the live Saturday lunchtime kick off. United can open up an eight point lead over Arsenal, who play later in the day, at the top of the table with a win at Upton Park and are 4/5 odds on favourites with Ladbrokes, but West Ham, priced 7/2, could be good value to earn a draw at least at odds of 5/2.

West Ham, seventeenth in the league, have enjoyed a turnaround in fortunes of late as they have suffered defeat just once in seven to give themselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation. Their recent record against United is woeful but on current form and against a United side struggling with injuries they could well earn a valuable point in the battle for survival.

The Hammers have lost their last five Premier League meetings with United and have failed to score in five of them, although they did beat a second string United 4-0 at Upton Park in the Carling Cup quarter-final earlier this season. The last four meetings between the two have involved over 2.5 goals and over 2.5 on Saturday could be worth backing at odds of 5/6 with Ladbrokes.

Avram Grant's side have scored 15 in their last six matches in all competitions and January signing Demba Ba has been inspired, scoring four goals in four League starts. Ba looks great value at 8/1 to score first or even as a 5/2 punt to score anytime. The form of Scott Parker has also been key for them and the midfield maestro is expected to be fit despite aggravating a shoulder injury with England, and Frederic Piquionne is also expected to be fit.

United though have selection problems, not least in defence as Rio Ferdinand and Rafael Da Silva are out injured and Jonny Evans is suspended. Nemanja Vidic is expected to be fit enough to return, although Paul Scholes completes the final match of his ban. Interestingly Wayne Rooney has scored five goals in eight Premier League games against West Ham and Ladbrokes.com make him hot favourite at 4/1 to score first.

Despite topping the table this season, Sir Alex Ferguson's side have been poor away from home as they have lost three of their last four and have only won four of fifteen fixtures away from Old Trafford this season. Eight of those matches have been draws and the draw could be the way to go at Upton Park on Saturday.

United have kept only one clean sheet in eight visits to teams in the bottom half of the table and all have involved over 2.5 goals. The 2-2 correct score looks very tempting at odds of 14/1, or alternatively Ladbrokes offer the score draw at odds of 4/1 and it would be a stalemate that would be a huge boost to West Ham and give Arsenal a boost at the top.
