Celtic v Rangers Odds: Walter Smith's side could upset the betting and win Old Firm cup match

Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers play each other for the third time in four weeks on Wednesday night when they do battle in their Scottish Cup 5th Round replay at Parkhead. The original cup match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Ibrox and Celtic are evens favourites to win this week's match according to William Hill. The draw is available at 12/5, but we fancy Rangers could just nick it and can be backed at odds of 11/4.

The two clubs have met in the Scottish Premier League since that cup draw and it was Celtic who won 3-0 against a lacklustre Rangers to open up an eight point lead at the top of the table. Since then though Celtic have lost 2-0 to Motherwell and Rangers have drawn 2-2 with Sporting Lisbon to progress on away goals in the Europa League and beat St Johnstone 4-0 in the league at the weekend.

Celtic's loss to Motherwell was blamed on a poor pitch by many of the players and it was a defeat that ended a 16 match unbeaten run. That reverse will be of concern to manager Neil Lennon, particularly as Rangers are now only five points behind Celtic with two games in hand. The 2-2 cup draw of a few weeks ago saw two players sent off and a red card this week could be well worth a look at odds of 5/4 with Hills.

Meanwhile, Celtic have scored in every match at home this term and three of the last four fixtures between the two have witnessed over 2.5 goals and over 2.5 is 19/20 on this week. Celtic's Georgios Samaras has impressed of late and he is available at odds of 11/2 to be first goalscorer on Wednesday which could be worth a look as the former Manchester City striker continues to find the Scottish Premier League to his liking. However, Celtic will have to do without Joe Ledley, Glenn Loovens, Thomas Rogne and Shaun Maloney, with Beram Kayal and Lukasz Zaluska returning.

For Rangers they will look to rectify the recent 3-0 defeat at the hands of their bitter Old Firm rivals and they have gone the right way about it since then with their success over Lisbon and St Johnstone. Maurice Edu was the hero in Lisbon and he is a tempting 6/1 to score anytime on Wednesday, while Nikica Jelavic remains a consistently potent threat. The Croatian has notched 10 goals in 11 starts for the Old Firm club and he could be the way to go in the first goalscorer market with WilliamHill.com at odds of 13/2.

Wednesday's match promises to be a real blood and thunder affair and despite Celtic's recent success over their Old Firm rivals, we fancy Rangers will be desperate for revenge and will be boosted by their recent results. They won 3-1 at Parkhead earlier this season, but the 2-1 correct score this week catches the eye at odds of 11/1, with Inverness awaiting the winners at the quarter-final stage.
