Scotland are narrow favourites ahead of their friendly match with the Czech Republic at Hampden Park this week. They are quoted at 8/5 to win with Ladbrokes, while a win for the visitors can be backed at 11/8 and the draw at 11/5.
With only three wins in the last two years, Scotland once again begin a rebuilding programme, this time under new boss, Craig Levein. The former Dundee United boss has already sent a strong message out as to the type of manager he will be by ignoring the recall claims of Rangers keeper, Alan McGregor after he was involved in another controversial incident at a Glasgow nightclub a fortnight ago. Levein has also changed the National team’s hotel from Cameron House, venue for the infamous late night booze up of former captain, Barry Ferguson and McGregor.
Levein clearly expects his team to be equally disciplined off the field as they should be on it and his team selections are sure to reflect this policy. The new boss also knows that this game against the Czech Republic, is a forerunner of Euro 2012 as the two sides have been drawn in the same group, making it vital that his side put in a strong performance on Wednesday.
Like Scotland, the Czech Republic team is also under new management, with Michal Bilek having been appointed in November, following the country’s exit from the World Cup. Bilek has been a successful manager at club level and will want to make his mark quickly at International level.

We think that this will be an interesting game, with both sides having a long look at each other before they meet in the more important Euro 2012 qualifiers.
