The Premier League Darts season moves on to Brighton for week seven of action as the players take to the Brighton Centre on Thursday night. Phil Taylor is now odds on favourite to win the tournament outright at 10/11 with Totesport and faces a mouth-watering match against James Wade this week. While Gary Anderson is second favourite at 5/2 and will be hoping to reverse a run of two straight defeats when he plays Raymond Van Barneveld.
Phil Taylor v James Wade
The standout tie on Thursday night is without a doubt the final match of the evening when reigning champion Phil Taylor takes on last year's beaten finalist James Wade. Taylor has recovered admirably to record five wins on the bounce to come back from his opening night humiliation at the hands of Adrian Lewis and he is 1/3 odds on to win the match this week. Wade meanwhile was champion in 2009 and has finally found some form this season. He lost his opening four matches before recording back to back wins, the latest an 8-6 win over Terry Jenkins to revive his hopes of another final appearance. The return to form could be timely and we fancy it could be a close match, similar to last year's final, that delights the Brighton crowd and the correct score of 8-5 to Taylor can be backed at odds of 9/2.
Prediction: Phil Taylor to win 8-5 @ 9/2 with Totesport.com
Gary Anderson v Raymond Van Barneveld
The third match in Brighton is another tasty affair as Gary Anderson takes on Raymond Van Barneveld. Anderson has impressed on his Premier League debut, winning his opening four matches, before coming unstuck against Phil Taylor and then Adrian Lewis last week. The defeat last week was all the more galling as it was in front of his own Scottish crowd in Glasgow, while Van Barneveld has also recovered from a slow start and appears to be building up a head of steam. Anderson is 19/20 on to win the match, but momentum could just be with Van Barneveld after he threw a 121 and a 116 finish in his 8-4 win over Mark Webster last week and he can be backed at odds of 13/8 with Totesport this week.
Prediction: Raymond Van Barneveld to win @ 13/8 with Tote
Adrian Lewis v Terry Jenkins
Adrian Lewis has found the Premier League season tough going since his opening night win over Phil Taylor and last week's victory over Anderson was his first win since beating Taylor. The World Championship winner showed plenty of character to come back from 3-0 down and beat Gary Anderson 8-3 in front of a partisan Glasgow crowd and he is 1/2 on to beat Terry Jenkins on Thursday. Jenkins has struggled this term as he props up the table with just two points and he is very much the outsider for this match at odds of 10/3. He did well to come back from 6-2 down to only lose 8-6 to James Wade last week, but Lewis will be buoyant after his win and the correct score of 8-4 to Lewis is tempting at odds of 13/2.
Prediction: Adrian Lewis to win 8-4 @ 13/2 with Totesport
Simon Whitlock v Mark Webster
Perhaps the least glamorous of Thursday's matches is the opening fixture between Simon Whitlock and Mark Webster. Both were unfortunate losers last week as they came up against men inspired and Whitlock showed admirable fight before going down 8-5 to Phil Taylor. He had fallen 5-2 behind in the match before coming back to 6-5 and a couple of missed doubles cost him dearly as he eventually lost. He is 9/10 favourite to win this week though against Webster, who lost to an in-form Van Barneveld in Glasgow last week. Both players are in need of points and it could be a close match that provides plenty of entertainment with both players so closely matched. The 7-7 draw is a tempting 15/4, but Whitlock could just edge it and the 8-6 correct score can be backed at 5/1.
Prediction: Simon Whitlock to win 8-6 @ 5/1 with Tote
10/11 Phil Taylor
13/5 Gary Anderson
6/1 Adrian Lewis
8/1 Raymond Van Barneveld
16/1 Simon Whitlock
20/1 James Wade
33/1 Mark Webster
125/1 Terry Jenkins
