Round 13 and the penultimate round of the Premier League Darts championship arrives in sold out Sheffield this week. Fifteen times World Champion Phil Taylor, who demolished his nearest rival, Mervyn King last week in Aberdeen by 8-1 is looking a class above these other great players and it will be a huge injustice should he lose when the knock out phase starts in a couple of weeks time. He has played 12 so far, won 10 and drawn 2 and is miles ahead at the top of the table.

This week Taylor takes on Terry Jenkins, who has already been eliminated from the knock out stages. When they last met in the League in Round 6, Taylor won easily by 8-3 and we think he should achieve a similar result this week, but will back against him as explained below.

The real battle this year is between the five players who sit below Taylor in the table and who must fight out over the next two weeks which three of them will join the great man in the semi finals. Mervyn King leads the fight currently with 13 points, but with Wade, Baxter and Whitlock all breathing down his neck on 12 points and Lewis not out of it on 10 points, much will hinge on the games this week.
