The Ashes is the name given to the Cricket Betting test series between arch enemies England and Australia. The Ashes themselves are the remains of the bails that were burnt after one of the early matches between the two teams. Every second year the teams take each other on both in England and Australia.
England have emerged victorious in the last two Ashes series in 2009 and 2010/11 respectively and currently hold the old urn. In 2010/11 they beat Australia 3-1 'Down Under' for the first time since the 1986/87 tour. In 2009 England won back the Ashes in a very hard fought series after they had been trounced 5-0 on their previous trip down under.
Australia had dominated the cricket world up to around 2008 but with the retirements of Shane Warne and Glen McGrath and Adam Gilchrist in such a short period of time they have been unable to replace them and are now a good side but not the great side that made them almost unbeatable.
England for their part have seen Andrew Flintoff come and go and their current side is now much more workmanlike with Andrew Strauss leading his charges into battle. They look a well drilled unit and the likes of Alastair Cook and James Anderson have shone consistently and were the stars of the victorious 2010/11 series as records tumbled.
Many people will look to get involved with the series top runs scorer and wicket taker. For each match the Ashes sports betting will ebb and flow depending on who makes the best start and the conditions will determine the estimates for the innings and session runs.
As in most sporting events Ashes in running betting will be big as punters wish to lock in positions after each session and wicket to fall. Should you be considering placing a bet on the Ashes Cricket make sure you check out this site for all our Bookmakers reviews.

Remember that the way both teams play test matches these days that unless there is a lot of bad weather you could almost take the draw out of calculations and this then provides good value for backing either of the two teams.
England won the Ashes series 3-1 with another innings victory at Sydney Cricket Ground. They had already retained the Ashes by thumping Australia by an innings and 157 runs in the fourth test in Melbourne, and ensured they won the series outright with a stunning performance in winning in Sydney by an innings and 83 runs.
Previously they had drawn the first test in Brisbane, won the second test in Adelaide and suffered a shock defeat in the third at Perth. They bounced back from that defeat, and were led by man of the series Alastair Cook, who top scored in the series with 766 runs, and James Anderson, who took 24 wickets - the most in Australia by an Englishman since Frank Tyson in the 1950s.
It leaves the 2013 mouthwateringly poised and it remains to be seen whether Australia can recover from defeat and whether England can retain those treasured Ashes for a second time......

The next major cricketing event is the World Cup to be played in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh which begins on the19th February this year.
The action gets going at Sher-e-bangla Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh and finishes with the final on the 2nd April 2011 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Australia are the holders after winning in the West Indies in 2007 but they are far from the side they once were. While Twenty20 World Cup holders England will be hoping they can produce the goods on the sub-continent this time and unseat Australia as the best in the world.
