England go into the fourth and final test against Pakistan at Lords this week knowing that they could end up snatching a draw from the jaws of a profound victory if they reproduce the form that they showed in the third test at the Oval last week. The Bookmakers do not seem unduly concerned however and make England odds on favourites to win the match and thus the series 3-1. Paddy Power have England as 4/6 odds on to win the match and quote Pakistan at 7/2 to repeat their Oval success; the draw looks an inviting bet at a best price of 12/5.
England have called up bowler, Tim Bresnan for the test but whether or not he will play will not be decided until just before the start of play. One bowler who will be playing however is Jimmy Anderson, who has a very impressive 20 wicket haul from the first three tests. It is little wonder therefore to see the Lancashire quickie as favourite in the top England Bowler market with odds of 2/1. Next best is the spin king, Graeme Swann at 5/2 followed by Stuart Broad at 11/4, with Steven Finn at 10/3.

As far as the Pakistan bowlers are concerned, favourite is the young left arm quick bowler, Mohammad Amir, who has been sensational on occasions in this series. With 13 wickets already, he looks a sound bet to finish top of the bowling tree for the tourists with odds of 2/1, also from Paddy power.
England lost the third test due to an inept batting display with only Alistair Cook, with a much needed ton and Matt Prior contributing with any substance. It is true to say that all of England’s front line batsmen have made a score in the series, but only Jonathan Trott has made them with consistency. Question marks have appeared for the first time over Eoin Morgan (although we think he will respond positively on his home ground of Lords) and vice captain, Paul Collingwood is also under the microscope; the betting in the top England Batsman market therefore makes interesting reading.
