He hit a superb half century in the first innings after not touching a cricket bat for six months and he added a useful 33 in the second innings too. He therefore has to be a tempting bet at 4/1 with Ladbrokes to finish as the Pakistan top batsman of the series.

As far as England run scorers go, it is Jonathan Trott who has scored the most runs in the series so far, with 220, and is favourite to finish top. As far As the bowling is concerned James Anderson with 20 wickets is almost unbackable to be England’s top wicket taker, however the Pakistan bowlers have all been performing well, particularly their young star, Mohammad Amir who has snapped up 13 wickets and leads by two from Mohammad Asif and three from spinner, Saeed Ajmal. It is why ladbrokes make him the 1/2 odds on favourite to finish top wicket taker, but there is some value in backing Asif at 3/1 to beat him to it or even Ajmal at 4/1.
