Backing a team to win a Twenty20 Cricket match is never an easy thing to do but to back one team from four to win the Twenty20 Cup this Saturday at the Rose Bowl is even harder. However, it is what betting is all about and to make life easier there a number of attractive betting markets to get stuck into that hopefully can provide some compensation, should the main selection go awry.

The four teams who have made the semi finals have all got realistic chances of winning, after all we all know that a Twenty20 match can have its course diverted in a matter of a few deliveries, which is why it has become such an exciting form of the game and why it can often frustrate the cricket punter.

Co-favourites to win the cup outright is Nottinghamshire and Somerset with odds of 9/4 available via Bet365 but the two teams of course meet each other in the second semi final for which they have both been given an even money chance of winning. In our opinion Nottingham may well have the upper hand with the inclusion of the England bowling pair of Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann, who are both amongst the favourites to be the top bowler of the day with odds of 12/1 from Sportingbet.com.They also have the considerable support of Australian international, Dirk Nannes (8/1) and England Twenty20 star, Ryan Sidebottom (9/1) which makes up a formidable attacking quartet, which we think will prove to be the a winning one. The batting is perhaps not quite as strong but in Ali Brown they have one of the most destructive one day batsmen on the planet and if he gets stuck into the Somerset attack then its game over. Brown is a 22/1 shot with Sportingbet to finish the day as top batsman and he is a 4/1 shot to be top Notts batsman in the semi final.
Favourite in the overall top batsman market in fact is Somerset’s, Marcus Trescothick, who like Brown can be hugely destructive. He is already being backed to be top batsman of the day with odds currently of 15/2 and he is a 13/5 shot to be top Somerset batsman against Notts.

Hampshire have a huge advantage being the home team but Essex are a team not easily fazed and if Essex talisman, Ravi Bopara is in form then he is capable of taking the game away from them. He is the favourite to be Essex top batsman in the match with odds of 11/4, but not far behind on 7/2 is England Test opener, Alistair Cook, who will be hoping to find some sort of form after a poor run for the test team. Hampshire interestingly will have England Twenty20 Opener, Michael Lumb opening for them, who will know that a good performance even at Twenty20 level could earn him a call up to the England test team, ironically as a replacement for Cook. For that reason we think Lumb is well worth backing at 10/3 to be Hampshire top batman in the match and we would also be tempted to back him at 12/1 with sportingbet to be top batsman on Finals Day.
