England's rollercoaster World Cup campaign continues on Friday morning when they face under pressure tournament hosts Bangladesh. The Group B match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong is crucial to Bangladesh's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages but they go in as outsiders with Paddy Power pricing them at industry best odds of 7/2, while England are odds on 1/5 favourites.
There is far less pressure on England than there could have been after they narrowly beat South Africa on Sunday and they more than likely only need to win one of the two remaining matches against Bangladesh and West Indies to qualify for the quarter-finals.
England have been troubled by injuries though, with Kevin Pietersen and Stuart Broad the latest to withdraw and they are replaced by quality as Eoin Morgan and Chris Tremlett come in. Morgan has been a consistent one day international performer and can be backed at odds of 11/2 to be top England batsman with Paddy Power this week.
Ian Bell is likely to move up the order to replace Pietersen as opening batsman and he is tempting odds of 4/1 to be top English batsman as we fancy him to flourish in the role. He has notched 188 runs in the tournament already and Paddy Power also offer odds of 7/4 that Bell outscores Jonathan Trott and Andrew Strauss in the match.
England played a ODI series in Bangladesh last year and comfortably won 3-0, which included a 45 run win at Chittagong - the venue for Friday's match. Bangladesh's key batsman Tamim Iqbal was out for a duck in that match but announced himself with three centuries against England in tests and ODIs last year. Iqbal is without a doubt the linchpin of the Bangladeshi batting lineup and is hot favourite at odds of 3/1 to be their top batsman this week.
If Iqbal does get in there could be fireworks and it is well worth a look at Bangladesh making a higher score than England in the first 15 overs of the match at odds of 7/4 with PaddyPower.com. There will be immense pressure on the home side to produce a performance after their collapse to 58 all out in their last match against the West Indies. Their display was abject at best and if they produce another kamikaze performance then over 1.5 run outs in the match at 6/5 is well worth considering.
Captain Shakib Al Hasan is also important to his side's hopes and can be backed at odds of 16/1 to be man of the match with Paddy Power, which could be worth a look as he averages 34 with the bat and 28 with the ball in one day internationals.
Ultimately we fancy England to win and ensure their own progress, although judging by their matches so far they are unlikely to make it easy as they have failed to ignite against lesser opposition.
