The Friends Provident Twenty20 Cup is scheduled to get underway today at Hove as last year's finalists the Sussex Sharks and Somerset Sabres kick off this season's competition on Tuesday. With the Indian Cricket League growing and straight off the back of the Twenty20 World Cup win for England in the West Indies there'll be much anticiaption up and down the country with regards to the T20 domestic competition. The Sussex Sharks won this competition last year and have a very solid looking team with a well balanced attack. One-day specialists Luke Wright and Michael Yardy offer something with the ball and bat, whilst Murray Goodwin and Brendon McCullum are a strong opening partnership. Goodwin looks a good bet to top score for the Sussex Sharks at 3/1 with B365.
The Friends Provident T20 Cup continues right through to August the 14th where finals day will be played at the Rose Bowl. As mentioned previously, Hampshire are 15/2 favourites to win the competition with Bet 365 and they can call upon the likes of England Twenty20 opener Michael Lumb and all-rounders Sean Irvine and big hitting Captain Dimitri Mascherenas to score them runs, whilst Sri Lankan bowler Ajantha Mendis is a dangerous prospect with the ball. Kent Spitfires look a decent bet, winner of this Cup back in 2007 they have featured numerous times on finals day and with the likes of Captain Robert Key, Joe Denly and Geraint Jones in their ranks they should represent good value at 12/1.
