Haye v Klitschko Betting

After months of wrangling and contract negotiations David Haye finally took on Ukrainian heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a unification heavyweight bout on July 2nd 2011 at the Imtech Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

Klitschko justified strong ante-post backing in the betting as he started odds on favourite and he secured a unanimous points verdict to put Haye in his place. Haye rarely got beyond the long reach of Klitschko and his pre-match trash talk was made to look very hollow.

Haye later blamed a broken toe he suffered in training as the reason for his poor performance, and there is already talk of a possible rematch with Klitschko, or potentially a match with Wladimir's brother Vitali.

If a rematch were to take place, Haye would have to upset the odds once again, but it would certainly be another boxing bout that would be hugely anticipated by punters as Haye attempts to prove himself a genuine contender in World Heavyweight boxing.
