David Haye v John Ruiz Odds Make the Hayemaker Huge Favourite to RetainTitle

It will be a non-starter for most punters to back on the outcome of the David Haye v John Ruiz WBA Heavyweight Championship fight this Saturday at the MEN Center in Manchester. As it stands currently, Haye is an overwhelming favourite at about 1/7 odds on with most bookmakers, with Ruiz given a best chance of 9/2 with bet365.

Haye won the title after putting up a brilliant performance to defeat giant, Nikolai Valuev in Germany on points to become Britain’s first Heavyweight Champion since Lennox Lewis. Valuev, in fact, has met and defeated Ruiz twice; firstly in 2005 and then once again in 2008. Both of these victories came in close points decisions, which proved that Ruiz has great durability as his record suggests, with only one stoppage in 44 fights. With that in mind, it would appear that Haye might not have the heavy ammunition needed to stop someone like Ruiz, suggesting that a point’s victory over 12 rounds might be the bet to be on.
