Anthony Joshua Tipped To Beat Eric Molina Inside Four Rounds

The Manchester Arena will play host to an enormous night of British boxing on Saturday. Anthony Joshua will defend his WBC world heavyweight title for a third time, when he faces American Eric Molina.

Special Offers:

Saturday 10th December, 11.00pm - Anthony Joshua v Eric Molina

Joshua v Molina is one which has been slightly scrutinised. Eddie Hearn previously downplayed the chances of Molina against Joshua when he chose Dominic Breazeale as Joshua’s first title defence. Eric Molina has only been beaten three times in his 28 bouts and he’s won 19 of those by way of knockout. With Joshua being so powerful and sharp with his punching, this one is only going one way. Joshua will be simply too hot for Molina to handle and this one could be all over within four rounds.

Molina stated that he is looking for that one big punch during an interview with Sky Sports, Molina rocked Deontay Wilder when the pair previously met, so Joshua does have to be wary of Molina taking advantage of a slight mistake.

This one is still a mismatch, the public are fully expecting a Joshua knockout and with his ability, the fight should be over within four.

Saturday 10th December, 10.00pm - Dereck Chisora v Dillian Whyte

A heavyweight grudge match will also take place on the undercard, with Dillian Whyte taking on Dereck Chisora.

The most highly-anticipated fight of the night is arguably Whyte v Chisora. The build-up to this fight has been one of the most heated in British boxing history, Chisora threw water in Whyte’s face in 'The Gloves Are Off' and the pair allegedly came to blows. Del Boy also launched a table which was aimed for Whyte during the press conference on Wednesday and Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the next time the fighters meet will be in the ring on Saturday.

Chisora needs a rejuvenating performance which will make him a world title challenger again, while Whyte has been highly talked about this year and if Chisora is able to beat him, he will be able to burst onto the big stage again. If Chisora loses this one, his future prospects are limited. Chisora has been credited for his tough chin, Whyte will really have to seriously test him in order to do something which even Vitali Klitschko was unable to do – knock him out.

Whyte’s recent performances have shown a different side to his game, he showed that he is able to outbox his opponents with his punch-selection alongside him showcasing his fitness which was previously questioned by the boxing public. However, with so much at stake in this one, in addition to how tense and hostile the two are, it’s highly doubtful that Whyte will be looking for something other than a knockout or a stoppage.

This one has all the credentials to become a great fight, the two dislike each other and with so much bad-blood, I can only see a victory coming by a knockout or via a stoppage. With Whyte seemingly on the up, in contrast to Chisora appearing to slowly simmer away from the big stage, this makes Whyte the favourite to come away with the all-important bragging rights.

Saturday 10th December, 8.00pm - Luis Concepcion v Khalid Yafai

Kal Yafai is out to become Birmingham’s first ever world champion as he bids for the world super-flyweight championship belt. The man standing in his way is Panama-born Luis Concepcion who has a record of 35-4.

Concepcion will be a tough test for Kal, he’s very experienced and expert Dave Coldwell told Sky Sports that he believes the fight is a very tough task for him to overcome.

Yafai’s style is very hard for any fighter to deal with, he’s quick and he has a rigid and energetic style which shows why he is 20-0. This one is going to be close, the pair are pretty evenly matched but with the British crowd behind him, along with him not having a single defeat, Yafai should come out on top via a decision.
