This AFC South clash on Thursday sees the struggling Indianapolis Colts looking to keep their season alive against a Tennessee Titans side who have capitulated in recent weeks. The Titans have lost five straight games which has seen early season promise evaporate, and unsurprisingly it is the Colts who go in as favourites with the bookmakers. As the season enters its final furlong and with 27 teams in playoff contention, the loss of form of the defending AFC Champions, the Indianapolis Colts, in recent weeks hasn't been ideal. The Colts have struggled as they have lost three in a row and won only one of their last five - a far cry from the team that NFL fans have come to expect in recent years. Defeat to the Titans would really put their impressive run of post season appearances under threat. A series of injuries to key players on Offense has started to take its toll - they have been without Dallas Clark and Austin Collie, together with Running Back Joseph Addai who is expected to be out for another week. The pressure has been on Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning and this has been evident as he has thrown for 11 interceptions in his past three games, a record in his 13 year career. That includes four in the 38-35 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday, and more of the same on Thursday night would again see the Colts struggling to find that much needed victory to keep them in the play-off race.
Despite the errors and losses of late, Manning has still been able to put up big numbers, averaging almost 350 yards per game during the current losing streak and putting points on the board hasn't been a problem. The total points for Thursday's match at Tennessee has been set at 45 with Bet365.com. However, the turnovers are leading to the opposition getting on the scoreboard which is making the Colts search for a win more difficult. It is a telling statistic that they have conceded 12 turnovers and forced none this season.
Luckily they come up against a Tennessee Titans team who rank amongst the worst in the NFL and their season seems all but over. All time Tennessee great Eddie George recently lambasted the side for lack of effort during their abysmal run. Starting Quarterback Vince Young is out for the season and last season's star Running Back Chris Johnson, who became only the sixth player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, is out of form. They have scored a combined six points in their last two games and whilst the Colt are struggling, they will have to improve markedly on Thursday.
Whilst Indianapolis aren't anything close to the team they have been in recent American Football seasons, they are still good enough to put teams to the sword and providing Manning can reduce the errors he's been making of late, this should be a rout and the -3 about the Colts on the handicap looks a great bet at odds of 5/6 with Bet 365.
In the first touchdown scorer market, it would appear that the odds compilers have overlooked the fact that Colts Running back Javarris James, scored two Touchdowns on Sunday. He is only in due to injuries but at odds of 12/1 to be the first touchdown scorer he looks great value.
