After the 35-7 whooping they received in week 1 at the hands of the Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be out for revenge this Sunday when they welcome them to Heinz Field. It should be a cracking match-up as this fierce AFC North rivalry, between the two top-ranked defences in the league, heats up once again.
The bookmakers are favouring Pittsburgh in the match-odds and Unibet offer them at 6/11 while a Baltimore win is 16/11. The point spread for the game is the Steelers favoured by 3 over the Ravens at 11/13 with the same firm.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, currently 6-2, are starting to emerge in most people’s minds as arguably the best team in the AFC right now. It is quite a turnaround from the early part of the season when they suffered that big loss in Baltimore and were being written off as too old and weren’t as strong a team.
Fast forward to week 9 and the Steelers are coming off a 25-17 win over the New England Patriots where they dominated the game. The offence kept Tom Brady off the field and controlled the ball for just under 40 minutes. It was an impressive victory and Pittsburgh will head into their next game riding high on confidence and hoping to build upon the result.
Baltimore, currently 5-2, have been a mixed bag since their opening day win over their rivals and it is hard to judge if they are legit contenders just yet. They comfortably beat teams such as the Rams and the Jets but they also have lost to the Titans and the Jags.
Last weekend they had to come from behind in the second half to claim a last grasp 30-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
The defence has been outstanding so far and is ranked 1st in the league so the unconvincing results haven’t been their fault. It really just boils down to the offence.
Joe Flacco is still doing his best to be one of the most frustrating quarterbacks in the league as on some days he can be great with that powerful arm of his and on others he can absolutely dreadful and look like a deer caught in headlights. The jury is still out on Flacco, who is now in his fourth year, but he seems to be even more erratic this season. He finds it hard to deal with any kind of pressure which is not helped behind a poor offensive line.
The Ravens have been too inconsistent to have real confidence in them in this one and the Steelers look much sharper at the moment. Home-field advantage is also a big factor in these games and Heinz Field will be looking for their team to put a whooping on their rivals.
In the total points for Sunday, take under 41.5 points at 18/19 with Unibet. These are historically tight matches and both teams will attempt to run the ball down each other’s throats.
